The crash itself was pretty tame as far as crashing at speed goes. The irony is the little yellow sign in the middle left of the shot. I’m probably the most careful rider you’ll ever meet, so it was a surprise when I didn’t even see the “wood” colored slime along one of my favorite bike paths. The right turn elbow on this wood bridge is not normally slick when it looks dry.
What I should have done is slowed even more than usual. I knew the rules, I’m without excuse. Even though I did everything right, I still should have used more caution and slowed down more when cornering on that wood.
The lesson to learn here, is that anytime after a rain I should always be rolling slower into the curve than I think is an already reasonable speed.
